Not all felt handles the weather the same, so here’s what to expect depending on what your hat’s made from:

Rabbit Felt – Clean and classic, but the most delicate when it comes to moisture. It’s fine in a light mist but are generally not ideal for prolonged exposure to steady or heavy rain. Best to keep this one out of the storm.

50/50 Beaver Blend – A solid, reliable choice. Beaver fur felt is naturally water-resistant, and this blend can handle light rain and wet weather pretty well. It’s not fully waterproof, though; so, if it gets soaked, dry it properly and store it right to help it hold its shape and quality over time. Think of it as weather-tough but still deserving of care.

100% Beaver Felt – Top-tier. It’s the most durable and water-resistant of the bunch. If you’re caught in the rain, this felt holds strong. Just let it dry naturally in a cool, shaded spot, and it’ll bounce back like a pro.
DRY SMART
No matter the felt, skip the heat when drying. No radiators or blow dryers, just patience and a cool place to let it breathe.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Use a soft brush or clean cloth to give it a quick once-over now and then. Light strokes in one direction (counterclockwise works best) will keep it fresh.
STORE IT RIGHT
When you're not wearing it, rest it crown-down on a clean surface, place it on a hat stand, or tuck it away in a hat box. Avoid hooks and hot car seats to protect the shape and protect the vibe.
